What are? And how important is it?

When buying an access equipment, there are many factors to consider. It is crucial to ensure that the product we are going to buy is certified with the current regulations, as well as having all the detailed information regarding the tasks to be performed. Only then can we choose the ideal tool.

The purchase of a product with harmonized standards is a guarantee that the product has been tested by an authorized entity with respect to its dimensions, design, durability, strength, safety instructions, etc.

At Ferral we have a trained team and testing equipment available to ensure the testing of our products. This is how we ensure compliance with current regulations and the safety of users of our products.

What are the regulations that regulate the products manufactured by Ferral?

EN 131-1 (2015) – Terms, types, functional sizes – It defines and specifies the general characteristics and dimensions for the design of portable ladders and stepladders.

EN 131-2+A2 (2017) – Requirements, testing, marking – It defines and specifies the characteristics, requirements and methods for testing portable ladders and stepladders.

EN 131-3 (2017-07) –  Marking and user instructions – It reports on the safe use of ladders and stepladders covered by EN 131-1, EN 131-2; articulated ladders covered by EN 131-4; telescopic ladders covered by EN 131-6; and mobile ladders with platform covered by EN 131-7. This standard also defines the rules and content of the labelling and instruction manual of the equipment covered by the standards referred to above.

EN 131-4 (2020) – Single or multiple hinge-joint ladders – It defines and specifies the characteristics, requirements, methods for testing, rules and content of labelling and instruction manual of articulated ladders with single or multiple joints. This standard shall be used together with part 1, part 2 and part 3.

EN 131-6 (2020) – It defines and specifies the characteristics, requirements, methods for testing, rules and content of the labelling and instruction manual of telescopic ladders. This standard shall be used together with part 1, part 2 and part 3.

EN 131-7 (2013) – Mobile ladders with platform It defines and specifies the general characteristics and dimensions for the design of mobile ladders with a work platform with a maximum area of 1m2 and a maximum height of 5m.
